Meet Jeremy
JEremy Eckert, CPA, CMA, MBA
Chief Operating Officer, Trail CPA
What drives you to be part of Trail CPA?
I’m motivated by the opportunity to build a firm that supports both our clients and our team. In an industry stretched thin on talent and capacity, I want Trail CPA to be a place where people can grow, innovate, and find balance—while still delivering exceptional value to clients.
What core values guide your leadership?
I lead with the values of empathy, collaboration, and continuous learning. I want our firm to be a place where people feel supported, encouraged to grow, and empowered to do their best work, because that directly impacts the quality of service we deliver to clients.
How do you ensure Trail CPA’s operations support both the team and clients?
I focus on building systems and processes that support both our team and our clients. For our staff, that means creating a collaborative environment with clear communication, training, and tools that make their work more efficient and rewarding. For clients, it means ensuring deadlines are met, questions are answered quickly, and they feel confident knowing we’re looking out for their best interests.
What do you find most rewarding about your role as COO?
Receiving positive feedback from our clients. We recently implemented an NPS survey system and have significantly higher client satisfaction than industry averages. This affirms that we are moving in the right direction and reminds me to continue investing in our team and clients.
Where do you see Trail CPA in the future, and how do you contribute to that vision?
We strive to be a tax and accounting firm that does things differently. Including tax planning in our standard package, managing capacity so we can continue accepting new clients, and leaning on technology so clients can book a meeting when they need it are just some of the ways we are growing into the future.
How has your role shaped your personal and professional development?
Leading at Trail CPA has challenged me to think beyond technical accounting and focus on building people and processes. It has sharpened my leadership, communication, and decision-making skills, while teaching me the importance of adaptability in a fast-changing industry. At the same time, working in a profession short on talent and capacity has pushed me to be more innovative—finding better ways to support clients and invest in the growth of our team.
What do you enjoy outside of work?
Outside of work, I enjoy autosports—F1, sim racing, and taking my Corvette to the track. I’m also passionate about sports, especially track and field, as well as weight lifting and gym workouts. Most importantly, I love spending time with my wife, Emily, traveling, visiting family in Canada, and creating memorable experiences with our kids, Cole and Mia.
